Thelma Wright, MD, JD

Assistant Professor, Anesthesiology, University of Maryland School of Medicine
Medical Director, University of Maryland Pain Management Center

Dr. Wright is an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She also serves as the program director of Pain Medicine Fellowship program. She is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. She has a special interest in Diabetic Neuropathy and Spinal Cord Stimulation. She was named a “Rising Star” in the Super Doctors edition of the Baltimore Magazine. She was also named U. S. News & World Report Top Doctor in 2011 and 2012.

Dr. Wright received her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, DC and completed her residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville. Her fellowship in Pain Medicine was also completed at the University of Virginia. Dr. Wright is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the recently-launched Maryland Prescription Drug Monitoring Program. Her publications include: Interventional Pain Physicians’ Experiences of and Attitudes toward Surgical Privileging and Strategies for Increasing Patient Volume at the University of Maryland Pain Management Center at Kernan Hospital.


Seung Lee, MD

Assistant Professor, Anesthesiology
University of Maryland School of Medicine

Dr. Seung J. Lee is an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, since 2007. He also serves as the chair person for the University of Maryland Medical Center Pain Committee. Dr. Lee is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Dr. Lee graduated from New York University with honors in Biochemistry, and he received his medical degree from Stony Brook University, Stony Brook New York. He completed his residency in anesthesiology and his pain medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Lee has a special interest in multidisciplinary pain management therapy for both cancer and non-malignant pain syndromes. He has given lectures and presentations at both local and national meetings.


Kanchana Gattu, MBBS

Assistant Professor, Anesthesiology
University of Maryland School of Medicine

Dr. Gattu is Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and has special interests in ultrasound guided musculoskeletal procedures and peripheral nerve stimulation for chronic pain.

Dr. Gattu received her medical degree from India, and completed her residency in Anesthesiology at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. Her fellowship in Pain Medicine was completed at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Gattu is a member of International Spine Interventional Society and the American Society of Anesthesiologist.


Robert M. Chow, MD

Assistant Professor, Anesthesiology
University of Maryland School of Medicine

Dr. Robert Chow is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He has a special interest in Spinal Cord Stimulation and neuropathic pain. Dr. Chow is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University and the Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology, at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He completed a fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.

Dr. Chow has authored several peer-reviewed scientific articles and received the Mount Sinai Eliasberg Research Scholar award from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 2013. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He has a special interest in Spinal Cord Stimulation and neuropathic pain.
