The University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute is proud to participate in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving held every year on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

On this year’s #GivingTuesday on November 29, we encourage you to make a gift to our highlighted programs: the Adapted Sports Program and the Hackerman-Patz House

Adapted Sports Program

Through our Adapted Sports Program, patients become re-engaged in physical activity. When participating in sports like adapted rugby, golf or basketball, our patients build confidence and improve their quality of life.

Here’s how your gift can help our athletes:

  • $6,000 will purchase a new rugby wheelchair
  • $4,000 will purchase a new basketball wheelchair
  • $900 will cover all travel expenses, including flights, to a tournament for one athlete
  • $286 will cover travel expenses (no flight) to a tournament for one athlete
  • $175 will purchase a box of specialized tire tubes for rugby wheelchairs
  • $40 will purchase new tires for a wheelchair
  • $30 will purchase a 12 pack of gloves for our wheelchair athletes

Hackerman-Patz House

Our Hackerman-Patz House provides housing for out-of-town families facing extended stays when a loved one is receiving care at our hospital. This on-campus, affordable housing option provides a place of respite for families who have uprooted their lives in exchange for access to the very best possible care.

  • A $65 donation to the Hackerman-Patz House will cover a family’s overnight stay, which sometimes can last up to a month.

During this holiday season, join the movement and give a gift that will make an impact. Make a donation to the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute on #GivingTuesday.
