Pharmacy Services

UM Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation’s Pharmacy provides services to inpatients, outpatients and members of the community.

Mail, Flowers and Balloons

For patients in the hospital, your mail will be delivered to your room. If we receive mail for you once you’ve been discharged, we will mail it to your address on file with the hospital.

The University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute offers a series of classes and support groups that are open to patients, caregivers and the community.

The Hackerman-Patz House

The Hackerman-Patz House provides a home away from home for out-of-town families facing extended stays when a loved one is receiving care at the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute. This on-campus, affordable housing option, situated in a picturesque and restorative environment, provides a place of respite for families who have uprooted their lives in exchange for access to the very best possible care.

Welcome to the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute!

We are committed to working with you and your family to meet your health care needs. Our dedicated staff serves the community in all its diversity with the goal of providing all families with the same care and attention we would want for our families and ourselves.

This section of the web site will help you and your family find the places, people and services to assist you during your stay at the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute. It introduces many of the professionals who may treat you and also explains some of the basics about how you can expect to be treated during your hospital stay.

If you have questions at any time, please ask them. Unasked or unanswered questions only add to the stress of being in the hospital. Your comfort and confidence in your care are very important to us. If you see ways we can better meet your needs, please let us know.

The cafeteria for families and visitors is located on the Terrace Level. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and for snacks and light fare in between meals.

The cafeteria is open Monday – Friday, and the hours of operation are:
Breakfast: 6:30 am – 9:30 am
Lunch: 11:00 am – 2:30 pm
Dinner: 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Our vending machine area (located in dining room) is open 24 hours a day.


The chapel is located on the Terrace Level. There are services offered every Sunday; please ask one of your caregivers for the time of the service, and let them know if you are interested in attending.

If you would like a member of the clergy to come visit you while you are a patient, we can call them and make them aware of your request, or you may call them directly.


We are happy to provide you with a list of licensed barbers/beauticians who will provide services during your hospital stay. These individuals set their own appointments and fees for the services they provide. Please call them directly to schedule an appointment and/or to inquire about the services they provide and their fees.


We are committed to a healthy environment for our patients, visitors and staff. Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the facility or on the property. Please note this smoking policy includes the use of electronic cigarettes. We have provided a list of resources for those who are interested in smoking cessation:
