UM Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation's Pharmacy provides services to inpatients, outpatients and members of the community.

Pharmacy services include drug and disease state information, drug preparation and distribution and dosage monitoring services for all patients. All physician orders and prescriptions for medications are reviewed by a clinical pharmacist for appropriateness of therapy and entered into UM Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute's physician order entry system, as part of a patient's electronic medical record. The electronic medical record database provides the pharmacist with relevant patient clinical information that assists the pharmacist in the selection of the most appropriate medication to treat a patient's medical condition.

Pharmacists monitor for drug allergies, drug interactions and lab values. A pharmacist is available 24 hours a day and can be consulted regarding any medication question or issue. Pharmacy technicians also staff 24-hours a day. With oversight from the pharmacist, the pharmacy technicians prepare and dispense oral tablets and liquids, compound bulk products and mix IV solutions for all patients.
